Moving Big Cats


By far one of the most interesting things I have ever witnessed took place during this last trip to Project Hope. Two tigers (Cookie and Alex) and a liger (Freckles) at a sanctuary that was closing in Gore Springs, MS needed to be relocated. Cougar Haven's owner had fallen on hard times and was unable to care for the trio any longer. A group from Tampa called Big Cat Rescue stepped in to help and we were there to witness their big move.

Doll had helped place Freckles at Cougar Haven years before when she fought and won the freedom for dozens of big cats from a hoarder in Mississippi. It was nice to see Freckles, Alex and Cookie moved to such a wonderful place as Big Cat Rescue.

Getting Back on Schedule

Rodney is not terribly concerned that I make it into the picture.

I just returned from two weeks at Project Hope, spent with Doll over Christmas. As expected I found Doll and her small staff very busy with animal care, daily maintenance of the sanctuary and calls from the community at large for help with animals in peril.

If you've followed this blog at all you know that it's been a while since we updated. Well, we're resolving to do better with our updates. It's not that there hasn't been anything to report - quite the contrary, we've all been very, very busy. We will do better here at relaying the good and bad of what's keeping Doll and crew busy in their little slice of animal heaven outside Duck Hill, MS.
